ASIAN CARP PREVENTION AND CONTROL ACT
Mr. WHITEHOUSE. Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that the
Senate proceed to the immediate consideration of Calendar No. 366, S.
1421.
The PRESIDING OFFICER. The clerk will report the bill by title.
The assistant editor of the Daily Digest read as follows:
A bill (S. 1421) to amend section 42 of title 18, United
States Code, to prohibit the importation and shipment of
certain species of carp.
There being no objection, the Senate proceeded to consider the bill.

the table, with no intervening action or debate, and any statements be

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of
the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Asian Carp Prevention and
Control Act''.
SEC. 2. ADDITION OF SPECIES OF CARP TO THE LIST OF INJURIOUS
SPECIES THAT ARE PROHIBITED FROM BEING IMPORTED
OR SHIPPED.
Section 42(a)(1) of title 18, United States Code, is
amended by inserting ``of the bighead carp of the species
Hypophthalmichthys nobilis;'' after ``Dreissena
polymorpha;''.
