 NOTIFYING THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ELECTION OF A PRESIDENT 
                              PRO TEMPORE

  Mr. REID. Mr. President, I have a resolution at the desk and ask for 
its consideration.
  The PRESIDING OFFICER. The clerk will report the resolution by title.
  The assistant legislative clerk read as follows:

       A resolution (S. Res. 568) notifying the House of 
     Representatives of the election of a President pro tempore.

  There being no objection, the Senate proceeded to consider the 
resolution.
  Mr. REID. I ask unanimous consent that the resolution be agreed to 
and the motion to reconsider be laid on the table.
  The PRESIDING OFFICER. Without objection, it is so ordered.
  The resolution (S. Res. 568) was agreed to, as follows:

       Resolved, That the House of Representatives be notified of 
     the election of the Honorable Daniel K. Inouye as President 
     of the Senate pro tempore.
