                          WHERE ARE THE JOBS?

(Ms. FOXX asked and was given permission to address the House for 1
minute and to revise and extend her remarks.)
Ms. FOXX. Mr. Speaker, this administration and Democrats in Congress
don't seem to have an answer to the single most important question
workers across the country are asking: ``Where are the jobs?'' The
American people don't want more political pandering on the economy and
health care; they want action now that will control runaway Federal
spending and create jobs.
The third time is not the charm, Mr. President. When government-
controlled health care was introduced in the House, the American people
rejected it. Strike one. When government-controlled health care was
introduced in the Senate, the American people rejected it. Strike two.
And when the President puts his government control of health care on
the table before a bipartisan handful on Thursday, the American people
will reject that, too. Strike three.
The Democrats need to scrap their job-killing policies, like a
government takeover of health care and national energy tax, and begin
working with Republicans on commonsense solutions to create jobs and
reduce out-of-control spending. It's time we work together to get this
economy moving again and to help put people back to work.
