                      committee on indian affairs

  Mr. DORGAN. Mr. President, I would like to announce that the 
Committee on Indian Affairs will meet on Thursday, January 28, at 2:15 
p.m. in Room 628 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building to conduct a 
hearing on the nomination of Lillian A. Sparks to be Commissioner of 
the Administration for Native Americans, U.S. Department of Health and 
Human Services, to be followed immediately by an oversight hearing 
entitled on ``Unemployment on Indian Reservations at 50 percent: the 
urgent need to create jobs in Indian Country.''
  Those wishing additional information may contact the Indian Affairs 
Committee.


                    SUBCOMMITTEE ON WATER AND POWER

  Mr. BINGAMAN. Mr. President, I would like to announce for the 
information of the Senate and the public that a hearing has been 
scheduled before the Subcommittee on Water and Power of the Committee 
on Energy and Natural Resources. The hearing will be held on Tuesday, 
February 9, 2010, at 2:30 p.m., in room SD-366 of the Dirksen Senate 
Office Building in Washington, DC.
  The purpose of this oversight hearing is to receive testimony on the 
Bureau of Reclamation's implementation of the SECURE Water Act, (Title 
9501 of P.L. 111-11) and the Bureau of Reclamation's Water Conservation 
Initiative which includes the Challenge Grant Program, the Basin Study 
Program and the Title XVI Program.
  Because of the limited time available for the hearing, witnesses may 
testify by invitation only. However, those wishing to submit written 
testimony for the hearing record should send it to the Committee on 
Energy and Natural Resources, United States Senate, Washington, DC
