                             HOUSING CRISIS

  Mr. REID. Madam President, let me briefly say to everyone here, if 
the minority decides they want to do something about the housing 
crisis, all they have do is work with Senator Dodd, with Senator 
Baucus, who are easy to work with, and we will be happy to try to work 
something out with them. But I repeat, more than a week ago we 
indicated our willingness to do this. So all the plaintive cries we 
have heard that we are somehow stopping them from legislating are 
factually untrue.
