                          PERSONAL EXPLANATION

  Ms. KILPATRICK of Michigan. Mr. Speaker, personal reasons require my 
absence from legislative business following 5:10 p.m. today, Thursday, 
September 29, 2005. Had I been present, I would have voted ``aye'' on 
H.J. Res. 68, making continuing appropriations for fiscal year 2006 
(rollcall No. 507); and ``aye'' on H. Con. Res. 178, recognizing the 
need to pursue research into the causes, a treatment, and an eventual 
cure for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, supporting the goals and ideals 
of National Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Week, and for other 
purposes (rollcall No. 508).
