                         SEEKING CLARIFICATION

(Mrs. MALONEY asked and was given permission to address the House for
1 minute and to revise and extend her remarks.)
Mrs. MALONEY. Mr. Speaker, last Sunday, when asked about the March
For Women's Lives, Karen Hughes said, and I quote, ``The fundamental
difference between us and the terror network we fight is that we value
every life.''
On behalf of the millions of Americans who are pro-choice, I am
asking, along with nine Members of Congress, that the Bush
administration clarify this statement. Surely they cannot be equating
choice with terrorism, but it sounds like that to me. This is a
dangerous and ugly pattern. If people do not agree, call them
terrorists.

Mr. Speaker, I will be placing in the Record the letter from nine
Members of Congress to President Bush and the article that appeared
today in The Washington Post.
