                          IMPORTANT VOTE TODAY

  (Mr. BROWN of Ohio asked and was given permission to address the
House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)
  Mr. BROWN of Ohio. Mr. Speaker, today we will have the opportunity to
vote for an additional $13 billion in spending cuts. This is an
important vote. With this vote we will go over $500 billion in deficit
reduction when we take last year's $496 billion package cut and this
additional cut:
  More than $500 billion, one-half trillion dollars, that the American
people will not have to pay;
  More than $500 billion, one-half trillion dollars, that we will not
be passing along to the next generation;
  More than $500 billion, one-half trillion dollars, that will cut the
fat, but not the muscle, out of Federal programs.
  Mr. Speaker, let us just hope that the Federal Reserve is paying
attention.
