                       HEALTH CARE BIPARTISANSHIP

(Mr. HASTERT asked and was given permission to address the House for
1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)
Mr. HASTERT. Mr. Speaker, when it comes to health care reform,
bipartisanship is the best solution.
Let us face it--neither Republicans nor Democrats have the complete
answer to health care.
It is time that both sides come together, in a nonpartisan way, to
develop a real solution that meets the health care needs of the
American family. Let us craft a commonsense bill that provides access
to private and affordable health insurance to Americans--even if they
have a pre-existing condition or change jobs. Let's address the cost
drivers in our system and reform our malpractice laws and reduce
paperwork.
I doubt if the average middle class family cares who passes the
health care bill, as long as it fixes what's broken in our current
system without destroying the quality of care and choice they have come
to expect.
So let us put partisanship behind us and begin working together to
pass a bill that both Republicans and Democrats can support.
