THE PRESIDENT'S PRESS CONFERENCE
(Mr. HEFLEY asked and was given permission to address the House for 1
minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)
Mr. HEFLEY. Mr. Speaker, the President will face the Nation in a
press conference tonight. Here are some questions I hope the media
asks:
Why won't the vast majority of Democrats in Congress support your
health care bill?
Why won't the Democrats allow hearings on Whitewater?
Why didn't the Democrat leadership allow amendments that would have
significantly strengthened the crime bill?
Is there any one in your administration who does not have ethics
problems?
Was your wife's former employer, the Rose law firm, the inspiration
for the book, ``The Firm?''
Have you read the New Republic piece on your business relationships
in Arkansas? If no, why not?
Mr. Speaker, the President has a lot of explaining to do tonight. I
hope we get some straight answers.
