                       TRIBUTE TO STACY HOFFHAUS

Mr. DOLE. Mr. President, we live in a time where everyone talks about
nutrition. Carbohydrates, cholesterol, and fat grams are part of our
national vocabulary.
And nutrition is more than just watching your weight. It is also
ensuring that children and the less fortunate are receiving the food
they need to grow or to stay healthy.
I am very proud of the involvement I have had in Federal nutrition
issues in the Senate. And I have been very fortunate to have Stacy
Hoffhaus--one of this city's leading experts on Federal nutrition--on
my staff for the past 8\1/2\ years.
Through her work on legislation like the 1989 child nutrition
reauthorization bill, and the 1990 farm bill, Stacy has called
attention to the problem of proper access to school lunch programs for
children with disabilities who have special dietary needs.
Stacy's commitment to Americans with disabilities also extends to the
hearing impaired--and Stacy has worked for many years to increase the
number of programs which are close captioned--including Senate
proceedings.
Stacy has now joined the staff of the Senate Agriculture Committee,
where she will continue her work on nutrition issues. She leaves my
office with my thanks for a job well done, and my hope that we can
continue to work together in the future.
Mr. President, I thank my colleagues.
I suggest the absence of a quorum.
The PRESIDING OFFICER (Ms. Mikulski). The clerk will call the roll.
The legislative clerk proceeded to call the roll.
Mr. CHAFEE. Madam President, I ask unanimous consent that the order
for the quorum call be rescinded.
The PRESIDING OFFICER. Without objection, it is so ordered.
