THINK
(Mr. BALLENGER asked and was given permission to address the House
for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)
Mr. BALLENGER. Mr. Speaker, before any of my colleagues decide to
support the Clinton plan, I urge them to look into the eyes of their
constituents and ask the following questions:
``Do you support the idea of the Government running your health care?
``Are you willing to wait in long lines for necessary and important
surgery?
``Are you ready for the rationing of your family's health care?
``Do you believe that if your parents get too old, they should be
denied health care options now currently available to them?
``Is it really time for you to pay a 7.9-percent payroll tax to pay
for health care for people you don't know?
``Can we afford to add 70 billion more dollars to our deficit?
Mr. Speaker, this is what the Clinton health plan will do to every
middle-class family in America. Before supporting the Clinton plan, I
urge my colleagues to think carefully about these questions.
