HEALTH CARE: CAPITALISM VERSUS SOCIALISM
(Mr. CALVERT asked and was given permission to address the House for
1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)
Mr. CALVERT. Mr. Speaker, Winston Churchill once observed that ``the
inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings * * *
while the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of
miseries.'' As Congress begins in earnest to consider proposals for
health care reform, we would do well to remember Mr. Churchill's words.
During this debate, let us not forget that our country is blessed
with the finest health care system in the world.
And in our quest to make the blessings of high quality health care
available to more Americans, let us be careful not to lower the quality
of health care for all Americans.
