    <main style="-uslm-dtd:legis-body"><longTitle><docTitle style="-uslm-dtd:legis-type">AN ACT</docTitle><officialTitle style="-uslm-dtd:official-title">To take certain Federal land located in Siskiyou County, California, and Humboldt County, California, into trust for the benefit of the Karuk Tribe, and for other purposes.</officialTitle></longTitle><enactingFormula style="-uslm-dtd:enacting-clause">Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,</enactingFormula>
        <section identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s1" style="-uslm-dtd:section" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">SHORT TITLE. </heading>
            <content class="block" style="-uslm-dtd:text">This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Katimiîn and Ameekyáaraam Sacred Lands Act</shortTitle>”.</content>
        </section>
        <section identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2" style="-uslm-dtd:section" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">LAND HELD IN TRUST FOR THE KARUK TRIBE. </heading>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/a" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="a">(a) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Findings.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">Congress finds that—</chapeau>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/a/1" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">the Katimiîn and Ameekyáaraam land is located in the ancestral territory of the Karuk Tribe; and</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/a/2" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">the Karuk Tribe has historically used, and has an ongoing relationship with, the Katimiîn and Ameekyáaraam land.</content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/b" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="b">(b) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Definitions.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">In this section:</chapeau>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/b/1" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Katimiîn and ameekyáaraam land.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The term “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Katimiîn and Ameekyáaraam land</quotedText>” means the approximately 1,031 acres of Federal land, including improvements and appurtenances to the Federal land, located in Siskiyou County, California, and Humboldt County, California, and generally depicted as “Proposed Area” on the map of the Forest Service entitled “Katimiîn Area Boundary Proposal” and dated August 9, 2021.</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/b/2" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Secretary.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The term “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Secretary</quotedText>” means the Secretary of the Interior.</content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/c" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="c">(c) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Administrative Transfer.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Administrative jurisdiction of the Katimiîn and Ameekyáaraam land is hereby transferred from the Secretary of Agriculture to the Secretary, subject to the condition that the Chief of the Forest Service shall continue to manage the component of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System that flows through the Katimiîn and Ameekyáaraam land.</content>
            </subsection>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/d" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="d">(d) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Land Held in Trust.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">The Katimiîn and Ameekyáaraam land is hereby taken into trust by the Secretary for the benefit of the Karuk Tribe, subject to—</chapeau>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/d/1" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">valid existing rights, contracts, and management agreements relating to easements and rights-of-way; and</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/d/2" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">continued access by the Chief of the Forest Service for the purpose of managing the component of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System that flows through the Katimiîn and Ameekyáaraam land.</content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/e" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="e">(e) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Survey.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Agriculture shall provide to the Secretary a complete survey of the land taken into trust under subsection (d).</content>
            </subsection>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/f" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="f">(f) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Use of Land.—</heading>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/f/1" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">In general.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Land taken into trust under subsection (d) may be used for traditional and customary uses for the benefit of the Karuk Tribe.</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/f/2" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Gaming.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Class II and class III gaming under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (25 U.S.C. 2701 et seq.) shall not be allowed on the land taken into trust under subsection (d).</content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/g" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="g">(g) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Wild and Scenic Rivers Management.—</heading>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/g/1" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">In general.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Nothing in this section affects the status or administration of any component of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, including any component that flows through the land taken into trust under subsection (d).</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/117/353/s2/g/2" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Memorandum of understanding.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The Secretary of Agriculture shall enter into a memorandum of understanding with the Karuk Tribe, consistent with the obligations of the Secretary of Agriculture under subsection (c), to establish mutual goals for the protection and enhancement of the river values of any component of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System that flows through the land taken into trust under subsection (d).</content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
