    <main style="-uslm-dtd:legis-body"><longTitle><docTitle style="-uslm-dtd:legis-type">AN ACT</docTitle><officialTitle style="-uslm-dtd:official-title">To require the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a special resource study of the sites associated with the life and legacy of the noted American philanthropist and business executive Julius Rosenwald, with a special focus on the Rosenwald Schools, and for other purposes.</officialTitle></longTitle><enactingFormula style="-uslm-dtd:enacting-clause">Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,</enactingFormula>
        <section style="-uslm-dtd:section" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s1" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">SHORT TITLE. </heading>
            <content style="-uslm-dtd:text" class="block">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Julius Rosenwald and the Rosenwald Schools Act of 2020</shortTitle>”. </content>
        </section>
        <section style="-uslm-dtd:section" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">RESOURCE STUDY OF JULIUS ROSENWALD AND ROSENWALD SCHOOLS. </heading>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/a" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="a">(a) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Definitions.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">In this section: </chapeau>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/a/1" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Rosenwald school.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The term “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Rosenwald School</quotedText>” means any of the 5,357 schools and related buildings constructed in 15 southern States during the period of 1912 through 1932 by the philanthropy of Julius Rosenwald. </content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/a/2" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Secretary.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The term “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Secretary</quotedText>” means the Secretary of the Interior. </content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/a/3" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="3">(3) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Study area.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The term “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">study area</quotedText>” means the sites associated with the life and legacy of Julius Rosenwald. </content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="b">(b) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Special Resource Study.—</heading>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Study.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">The Secretary shall conduct a special resource study of the study area, with a special emphasis on the following Rosenwald Schools and other sites associated with the life and legacy of Julius Rosenwald: </chapeau>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1/A" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="A">(A) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Sears Administration Building at Homan Square in Chicago, Illinois. </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1/B" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="B">(B) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Rosenwald Court Apartments in Chicago, Illinois. </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1/C" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="C">(C) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Museum of Science &amp; Industry in Chicago, Illinois. </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1/D" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="D">(D) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Rosenwald House (formerly the Lyon Home) at the Lincoln Home National Historic Site in Springfield, Illinois. </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1/E" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="E">(E) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Cairo Rosenwald School, a one-teacher school in Sumner County, Tennessee. </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1/F" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="F">(F) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Shady Grove School, a one-teacher school in Louisa County, Virginia. </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1/G" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="G">(G) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Noble Hill School, a two-teacher school in Bartow County, Georgia. </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1/H" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="H">(H) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Ridgeley School, a two-teacher school in Prince Georges County, Maryland. </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1/I" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="I">(I) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Bay Springs School, a two-teacher school in Forest County, Mississippi.</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1/J" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="J">(J) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Russell School, a two-teacher school in Durham County, North Carolina. </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1/K" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="K">(K) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Shiloh Rosenwald School, a three-teacher school in Macon County, Alabama. </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1/L" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="L">(L) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">San Domingo School, a four-teacher school in Wicomico County, Maryland. </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1/M" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="M">(M) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Elmore County Training School, a seven-teacher school in Elmore County, Alabama. </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/1/N" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="N">(N) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Dunbar Junior High, Senior High and Junior College in Little Rock, Arkansas. </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/2" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Contents.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">In conducting the study under paragraph (1), the Secretary shall— </chapeau>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/2/A" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="A">(A) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">evaluate the national significance of the study area; </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/2/B" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="B">(B) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">determine the suitability and feasibility of designating the study area as a unit of the National Park System, including an interpretive center in or near Chicago, Illinois; </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/2/C" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="C">(C) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">consider other alternatives for preservation, protection, and interpretation of the study area by the Federal Government, State or local government entities, or private and nonprofit organizations; </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/2/D" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="D">(D) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">consult with interested Federal agencies, State or local governmental entities, private and nonprofit organizations, or any other interested individuals; and </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/b/2/E" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="E">(E) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">identify cost estimates for any Federal acquisition, development, interpretation, operation, and maintenance associated with the alternatives. </content>
                    </subparagraph>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/c" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="c">(c) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Applicable Law.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The study under paragraph (1) shall be conducted in accordance with section 100507 of title 54, United States Code.</content>
            </subsection>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/d" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="d">(d) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Results.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">Not later than 3 years after the date on which funds are first made available for the study under paragraph (1), the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate a report describing— </chapeau>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/d/1" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">the results of the study; and </content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/116/336/s2/d/2" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">any conclusions and recommendations of the Secretary relating to the study. </content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
