    <main style="-uslm-dtd:legis-body"><longTitle><docTitle style="-uslm-dtd:legis-type">AN ACT</docTitle><officialTitle style="-uslm-dtd:official-title">To amend the Elder Abuse Prevention and Prosecution Act to improve the prevention of elder abuse and exploitation of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.</officialTitle></longTitle><enactingFormula style="-uslm-dtd:enacting-clause">Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,</enactingFormula>
        <section identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s1" style="-uslm-dtd:section" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><editorialNote role="uscRef" style="-uslm-dtd:usc-reference"><b>[</b><ref href="/us/usc/t34/s10101">34 U.S.C. 10101 note</ref><b>]</b> </editorialNote><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">SHORT TITLE. </heading>
            <content class="block" style="-uslm-dtd:text">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Promoting Alzheimer’s Awareness to Prevent Elder Abuse Act</shortTitle>”.</content>
        </section>
        <section identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s2" style="-uslm-dtd:section" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">ADDRESSING ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE IN BEST PRACTICES. </heading>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s2/a" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="a">(a) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">In General.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">Section 101(b) of the Elder Abuse Prevention and Prosecution Act (34 U.S.C. 21711(b)) is amended— </chapeau>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s2/a/1" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by redesignating subparagraphs (A), (B), and (C) of paragraph (2) as clauses (i), (ii), and (iii), respectively, and adjusting the margin accordingly; </content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s2/a/2" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by redesignating paragraphs (1), (2), and (3) as subparagraphs (A), (B), and (C), respectively, and adjusting the margin accordingly; </content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s2/a/3" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="3">(3) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Not later than</quotedText>” and inserting the following:<quotedContent style="-uslm-dtd:quoted-block">
                    <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">“(1) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">In general.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Not later than ”</content>
                    </paragraph></quotedContent>;</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s2/a/4" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="4">(4) </num><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">in paragraph (1)(B), as so redesignated— </chapeau>
                    <subparagraph identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s2/a/4/A" style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="A">(A) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in clause (ii), by inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">, including witnesses who have Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias</quotedText>” after  “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">other legal issues</quotedText>”; and</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                    <subparagraph identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s2/a/4/B" style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="B">(B) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in clause (iii), by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">elder abuse cases,</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">elder abuse cases (including victims and witnesses who have Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias),</quotedText>”; and</content>
                    </subparagraph>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s2/a/5" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="5">(5) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by adding at the end the following: <quotedContent style="-uslm-dtd:quoted-block">
                    <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">“(2) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Training materials.—</heading>
                        <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="A">“(A) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">In general.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">In creating or compiling replication guides and training materials under paragraph (1)(B), the Elder Justice Coordinator shall consult with the Secretary of Health and Human Services, State, local, and Tribal adult protective services, aging, social, and human services agencies, Federal, State, local, and Tribal law enforcement agencies, and nationally recognized nonprofit associations with relevant expertise, as appropriate. </content>
                        </subparagraph>
                        <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="B">“(B) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Updating.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">The Elder Justice Coordinator shall— </chapeau>
                            <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="i">“(i) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">review the best practices identified and replication guides and training materials created or compiled under paragraph (1)(B) to determine if the replication guides or training materials require updating; and</content>
                            </clause>
                            <clause style="-uslm-dtd:clause" styleType="OLC">
                                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="ii">“(ii) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">perform any necessary updating of the replication guides or training materials. ”</content>
                            </clause>
                        </subparagraph>
                    </paragraph></quotedContent>.</content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s2/b" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="b">(b) </num><editorialNote role="uscRef" style="-uslm-dtd:usc-reference"><b>[</b><ref href="/us/usc/t34/s21711">34 U.S.C. 21711 note</ref><b>]</b> </editorialNote><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Applicability.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">The amendments made by subsection (a) shall— </chapeau>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s2/b/1" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">take effect on the date of enactment of this Act; and </content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s2/b/2" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">apply on and after the date that is 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act. </content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
        </section>
        <section identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s3" style="-uslm-dtd:section" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="3">SEC. 3. </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">REPORT ON OUTREACH. </heading>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s3/a" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="a">(a) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">In General.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">Section 101(c)(2) of the Elder Abuse Prevention and Prosecution Act (34 U.S.C. 21711(c)(2)) is amended— </chapeau>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s3/a/1" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by redesignating subparagraphs (A) through (D) as clauses (i) through (iv), respectively, and adjusting the margin accordingly; </content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s3/a/2" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">a report detailing</quotedText>” and inserting the following: <quotedContent class="inline" style="-uslm-dtd:quoted-block"><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">“a report—</chapeau>
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="A">“(A) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">detailing ”</content>
                    </subparagraph></quotedContent>; and</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s3/a/3" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="3">(3) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by adding at the end the following: <quotedContent style="-uslm-dtd:quoted-block">
                    <subparagraph style="-uslm-dtd:subparagraph" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="B">“(B) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">with respect to the report by the Attorney General, including a link to the publicly available best practices identified under subsection (b)(1)(B) and the replication guides and training materials created or compiled under such subsection. ”</content>
                    </subparagraph></quotedContent>.</content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/116/252/s3/b" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="b">(b) </num><editorialNote role="uscRef" style="-uslm-dtd:usc-reference"><b>[</b><ref href="/us/usc/t34/s21711">34 U.S.C. 21711 note</ref><b>]</b> </editorialNote><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Applicability.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The amendments made by subsection (a) shall apply with respect to the report under section 101(c)(2) of the Elder Abuse Prevention and Prosecution Act (34 U.S.C. 21711(c)(2)) submitted during the second year beginning after the date of enactment of this Act, and each year thereafter. </content>
            </subsection>
