    <main style="-uslm-dtd:legis-body"><longTitle><docTitle style="-uslm-dtd:legis-type">AN ACT</docTitle><officialTitle style="-uslm-dtd:official-title">To authorize the Capitol Police Board to make payments from the United States Capitol Police Memorial Fund to employees of the United States Capitol Police who have sustained serious line-of-duty injuries, and for other purposes.</officialTitle></longTitle><enactingFormula style="-uslm-dtd:enacting-clause">Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,</enactingFormula>
        <section style="-uslm-dtd:section" identifier="/us/sComp/115/45/s1" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><editorialNote style="-uslm-dtd:usc-reference" role="uscRef"><b>[</b><ref href="/us/usc/t2/s1901">2 U.S.C. 1901 note</ref><b>]</b> </editorialNote><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">SHORT TITLE. </heading>
            <content style="-uslm-dtd:text" class="block">This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Wounded Officers Recovery Act of 2017</shortTitle>”.</content>
        </section>
        <section style="-uslm-dtd:section" identifier="/us/sComp/115/45/s2" styleType="OLC">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">PAYMENTS FROM UNITED STATES CAPITOL POLICE MEMORIAL FUND FOR EMPLOYEES KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY OR SUSTAINING SERIOUS LINE-OF-DUTY INJURIES. </heading>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/115/45/s2/a" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="a">(a) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Authorizing Payments From Fund.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">Section 2 of Public Law 105-223 (2 U.S.C. 1952) is amended—</chapeau>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/115/45/s2/a/1" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">in the section heading, by inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote"><headingText style="-uslm-dtd:header-in-text">and certain other united states capitol police employees</headingText></quotedText>” before the period at the end;</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/115/45/s2/a/2" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">Subject to the regulations</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">(a) In General.—Except to the extent used or reserved for use under subsection (b) and subject to the regulations</quotedText>”; and</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/115/45/s2/a/3" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="3">(3) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by adding at the end the following new subsection:<quotedContent style="-uslm-dtd:quoted-block">
                    <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="b">“(b) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Payments for Employees Killed in the Line of Duty or Sustaining Serious Line-of-duty Injuries.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">In addition to the amounts paid under subsection (a), and in accordance with the regulations issued under section 4(b), amounts in the Fund may be paid to—</chapeau>
                        <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">“(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">families of employees of the United States Capitol Police who were killed in the line of duty; or</content>
                        </paragraph>
                        <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">“(2) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">employees of the United States Capitol Police who have sustained serious line-of-duty injuries.”</content>
                        </paragraph>
                    </subsection></quotedContent>.</content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/115/45/s2/b" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="b">(b) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Regulations of Capitol Police Board.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">Section 4 of Public Law 105-223 (2 U.S.C. 1954) is amended—</chapeau>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/115/45/s2/b/1" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">The Capitol Police Board</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">(a) In General.—The Capitol Police Board</quotedText>”; and</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" identifier="/us/sComp/115/45/s2/b/2" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">by adding at the end the following new subsection:<quotedContent style="-uslm-dtd:quoted-block">
                    <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                        <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="b">“(b) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Regulations Governing Payments for Employees Killed in the Line of Duty or Sustaining Serious Line-of-duty Injuries.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">In carrying out subsection (a), the Capitol Police Board shall issue specific regulations governing the use of the Fund for making payments to families of employees of the United States Capitol Police who were killed in the line of duty and employees of the United States Capitol Police who have sustained  serious line-of-duty injuries (as authorized under section 2(b)), including regulations—</chapeau>
                        <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">“(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">establishing the conditions under which the family of an employee or an employee is eligible to receive such a payment;</content>
                        </paragraph>
                        <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">“(2) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">providing for the amount, timing, and manner of such payments; and</content>
                        </paragraph>
                        <paragraph style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="3">“(3) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">ensuring that any such payment is in addition to, and does not otherwise affect, any other form of compensation payable to the family of an employee or the employee, including benefits for workers’ compensation under chapter 81 of title 5, United States Code.”</content>
                        </paragraph>
                    </subsection></quotedContent>.</content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
            <subsection style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" identifier="/us/sComp/115/45/s2/c" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="c">(c) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Treatment of Amounts Received in Response to Incident of June 14, 2017.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The second sentence of section 1 of Public Law 105-223 (2 U.S.C. 1951) is amended by striking “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">deposit into the Fund</quotedText>” and inserting “<quotedText style="-uslm-dtd:quote">deposit into the Fund, including amounts received in response to the shooting incident at the practice for the Congressional Baseball Game for Charity on June 14, 2017,</quotedText>”.</content>
            </subsection>
