        <section identifier="/us/sComp/90/483/s111" style="-uslm-dtd:section" styleType="traditional-inline">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="111">Sec. 111. </num><editorialNote role="uscRef" style="-uslm-dtd:usc-reference"><b>[</b><ref href="/us/usc/t33/s426i">33 USC 426i</ref><b>]</b> </editorialNote><subsection class="inline" identifier="/us/sComp/90/483/s111/a" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC"><num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="a">(a) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">In General.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The Secretary of the Army is authorized to investigate, study, plan, and implement structural and nonstructural measures for the prevention or mitigation of shore damages attributable to Federal navigation works and shore damage attributable to the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, if a non-Federal public body agrees to operate and maintain such measures, and, in the case of interests in real property acquired in conjunction with nonstructural measures, to operate and maintain the property for public purposes in accordance with regulations prescribed by the Secretary.</content></subsection>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/90/483/s111/b" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="b">(b) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Cost Sharing.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The costs of implementing measures, including a study, shall be cost-shared in the same proportion as the cost-sharing provisions applicable to construction of the project causing the shore damage.</content>
            </subsection>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/90/483/s111/c" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="c">(c) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Requirement for Specific Authorization.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">No such project shall be initiated without specific authorization by Congress if the Federal first cost exceeds $15,000,000.</content>
            </subsection>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/90/483/s111/d" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="d">(d) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Coordination.—</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-dtd:text">The Secretary shall—</chapeau>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/90/483/s111/d/1" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="1">(1) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">coordinate the implementation of the measures under this section with other Federal and non-Federal shore protection projects in the same geographic area; and</content>
                </paragraph>
                <paragraph identifier="/us/sComp/90/483/s111/d/2" style="-uslm-dtd:paragraph" styleType="OLC">
                    <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="2">(2) </num><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">to the extent practicable, combine mitigation projects with other shore protection projects in the same area into a comprehensive regional project.</content>
                </paragraph>
            </subsection>
            <subsection identifier="/us/sComp/90/483/s111/e" style="-uslm-dtd:subsection" styleType="OLC">
                <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="e">(e) </num><heading style="-uslm-dtd:header">Reimbursement for Feasibility Studies.—</heading><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">Beginning on the date of enactment of this subsection, in any case in which the Secretary implements a project under this section, the Secretary shall reimburse or credit the non-Federal interest for any amounts contributed for the study evaluating the damage in excess of the non-Federal share of the costs, as determined under subsection (b).</content>
            </subsection>

        <section identifier="/us/sComp/90/483/s117" style="-uslm-dtd:section" styleType="traditional-inline">
            <num style="-uslm-dtd:enum" value="117">Sec. 117. </num><editorialNote role="uscRef" style="-uslm-dtd:usc-reference"><b>[</b><ref href="/us/usc/t33/s562a">33 USC 562a</ref><b>]</b> </editorialNote><content style="-uslm-dtd:text">The Chief of Engineers, under the direction of the Secretary of the Army, is hereby authorized to maintain authorized river and harbor projects in excess of authorized project depths where such excess depths have been provided by the United States for defense purposes and whenever the Chief of Engineers determines that such waterways also serve essential needs of general commerce.</content>
