professional: worked for Minnesota-based General Mills in 1984; small 
business owner; served as vice president for external affairs at Planned 
Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota (PPMNS); served as 
chief of staff to both Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and Governor Mark 
Dayton; in 2014, Tina was elected to serve as Minnesota's 48th 
Lieutenant Governor; married: Archie Smith, for more than 30 years; two 
sons and two daughters-in-law; committees: Agriculture, Nutrition, and 
Forestry; Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; Health, Education, Labor, 
and Pensions; Indian Affairs; appointed to the U.S. Senate on December 
13, 2017, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Senator Al 
Franken; took the oath of office on January 3, 2018; subsequently 
elected to the U.S. Senate in a special election on November 6, 2018, 
for the remainder of the term ending January 3, 2021; reelected to the 
U.S. Senate on November 3, 2020 to serve a full six-year term.
