    TINA SMITH, Democrat, of Minneapolis, MN; born March 4, 1958; 
education: B.A., Stanford University, Stanford, CA, 1980; M.B.A., Tuck 
School of Business at Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH, 1984; 
professional: began working at Minnesota-based General Mills in 1984, 
later opened her own small business, and went on to serve as vice 
president for external affairs at Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North 
Dakota, South Dakota (PPMNS); served as chief of staff to both 
Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and Governor Mark Dayton. In 2014, Tina was 
elected to serve as Minnesota's 48th Lieutenant Governor; married: 
Archie Smith, for more than 30 years; two sons and two daughters-in-law; 
committees: Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry; Energy and Natural 
Resources; Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions; Indian Affairs; 
appointed to the U.S. Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the 
resignation of Senator Al Franken, for the term ending January 3, 2021, 
and took the oath of office on January 3, 2018.
