Charleston, September 19, 1965; education: R.B. Stall High School; B.S., 
Charleston Southern University, Charleston, SC, 1988; professional: 
former owner of Tim Scott Allstate and partner of Pathway Real Estate 
Group; served on Charleston County Council, 1995-2008; four terms as 
chair of the Charleston County Council; member of the South Carolina 
State House of Representatives, 2009-10; member of the U.S. House of 
Representatives 2010-12; committees: Banking, Housing, and Urban 
Affairs; Finance; Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions; Small Business 
and Entrepreneurship; Special Committee on Aging; appointed by the 
Governor, January 2, 2013, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation 
of Senator James DeMint; appointment took effect upon his resignation 
from the House of Representatives on January 2, 2013; took the oath of 
office on January 3, 2013; Senator Scott ran in a special election on 
November 4, 2014, for the final two years of Senator DeMint's second 
term, and won the seat.
