RES. 773</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20260617">June 17, 2026</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S439">Mrs. Moody</sponsor> submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Recognizing Father’s Day and the role a father plays in the lives of children and adults.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas><text>Whereas Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June and will be celebrated in the United States on Sunday, June 21, 2026;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas fathers play an important role in the lives of their children by improving their—</text><paragraph id="id80bc39f809414431a18251129429eeda"><enum>(1)</enum><text>emotional well-being;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idacbdd24a43b14391887d267586d687eb"><enum>(2)</enum><text>social well-being;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idbeeaebf07acd45679772549f492243a5"><enum>(3)</enum><text>educational success; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idef6cca5ebadf43019f1bd0c99ee00752"><enum>(4)</enum><text>economic well-being;</text></paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas children with present or engaged fathers are—</text><paragraph id="id1843c09f9eed4942b59bdd6feeab6ef7"><enum>(1)</enum><text>less likely to repeat a grade;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id8597d823440841b3a7ea2ff549bb0114"><enum>(2)</enum><text>more likely to enter college or find stable employment after high school;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id339ce4514a484062be331debc9760fe6"><enum>(3)</enum><text>less likely to go to jail;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id99f41ea8b818462da528b1c02feb5566"><enum>(4)</enum><text>less likely to experience a teen birth; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id50ae3ed01ad14e2c9814db1645a555ca"><enum>(5)</enum><text>less likely to experience mental health disorders;</text></paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas children without present or engaged fathers—</text><paragraph id="id25f46cb438fc45e6b49b5dc2272943de"><enum>(1)</enum><text>represent the vast majority of runaway children;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idbe6954c73cdb4404adbf36f8bb761919"><enum>(2)</enum><text>represent the vast majority of juveniles in State-operated institutions;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idf73ae313b1ba48c99903172911799b67"><enum>(3)</enum><text>are more likely to have children outside of marriage or partnership;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id59ef3524e875441f8ad6990bca3c1961"><enum>(4)</enum><text>are more likely to be involved in gangs; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id7d1873901f7d49e09c4de46a329f8174"><enum>(5)</enum><text>are much more likely to live in poverty; and</text></paragraph></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas the genuine love of a father is irreplaceable, and the positive outcomes generated by the love and support of a father prove both the irreplaceable role a father fills and the responsibility fathers have in caring for their children and families: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body><section id="S1" display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section"><text>That the Senate—</text><paragraph id="idcd369f8ce3b54c6f9ba6f6954a842466"><enum>(1)</enum><text>acknowledges the importance of efforts by fathers to engage and to provide continuous physical and emotional support to children and families;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id42b9f9a326f5439d9a3df51fc0d258a4"><enum>(2)</enum><text>acknowledges that sustained engagement by a father throughout the life of a child is a privileged responsibility that fulfills the father as much as the child; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idb9492af4c1c345f0bafdafba5ee1f38a"><enum>(3)</enum><text>wishes all fathers and father figures in the United States a happy Father’s Day.</text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
