RES. 425</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20250930">September 30, 2025</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S347">Mr. Moran</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="S411">Mr. Marshall</cosponsor>) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><action><action-date date="20260321">March 21, 2026</action-date><action-desc>Committee discharged; considered and agreed to</action-desc></action><legis-type>RESOLUTION</legis-type><official-title display="yes">Honoring the life of Hays, Kansas police sergeant Scott Heimann.</official-title></form><preamble><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas Sergeant Scott Heimann served Hays, Kansas, with honor, courage, and dedication since 2016;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text>Whereas Sergeant Heimann was a constant presence in the community and frequently went above and beyond as a positive role model to all that knew him;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text>Whereas Sergeant Heimann was a Hays, Kansas, resident who graduated from Thomas More Prep-Marian High School and attended the University of Kansas for 2 years before returning to Hays, Kansas; </text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text>Whereas Sergeant Heimann graduated from the 241st basic training class at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in 2016;</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text>Whereas Sergeant Heimann received the Outstanding Eagle Scout in the Community award from the Coronado Area Council in 2019;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Sergeant Heimann was well received by local children during his 2021 reading sessions at Hays Public Library;</text></whereas><whereas><text>Whereas Sergeant Heimann is survived by his wife, Beth, his children, Patrick and Victoria, his parents, Bill and Teresa Heimann, and many other family members and friends; and</text></whereas><whereas commented="no"><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whereas Sergeant Heimann was killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic violence incident on September 27, 2025: Now, therefore, be it</text></whereas></preamble><resolution-body><section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="S1"><text>That the Senate—</text><paragraph id="id304581609d6f4950b8e6ba41229a9b01" commented="no"><enum>(1)</enum><text>highly appreciates and respects all that Sergeant Scott Heimann did to protect and serve his Kansas community;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id01bf16e5df794e0daca315565aae29da" commented="no"><enum>(2)</enum><text>offers condolences to the family of Sergeant Scott Heimann;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id0db4b3ee6c34409c9619abc1ad10a594" commented="no"><enum>(3)</enum><text>pays tribute to Sergeant Scott Heimann’s noble sacrifice in the line of duty; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id2f1635156ba6457580b6c99aef822291" commented="no"><enum>(4)</enum><text>calls on all levels of government to support the family of this fallen officer.</text></paragraph></section></resolution-body></resolution>
