Mrs. Gillibrand introduced the following bill; which was read twice and 
       referred to the Committee on Environment and Public Works

  To prohibit the renaming of the Great Lakes, and for other purposes.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Hands Off Our Great Lakes Act''.

SEC. 2. PROHIBITION OF THE RENAMING OF THE GREAT LAKES.

    Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the President, the 
Secretary of the Interior, and any officer or employee of the Federal 
Government acting under the authority of the President may not alter, 
change, redesignate, or otherwise rename the official geographic name 
of any of the following Great Lakes:
            (1) Lake Superior.
            (2) Lake Michigan.
            (3) Lake Huron.
            (4) Lake Erie.
            (5) Lake Ontario.

SEC. 3. NULLIFICATION OF EXECUTIVE ORDER 14422.

    (a) In General.--Executive Order 14422 entitled ``Honoring the 
American History of the Great Lakes and Renaming Lake Ontario as Lake 
America'' and issued on August 27, 2026, shall have no force or effect.
    (b) Prohibition on Implementation.--The President, the Secretary of 
the Interior, and any officer or employee of the Federal Government may 
not issue, implement, administer, or enforce any Executive order, 
memorandum, proclamation, or other action issued for the purpose of 
carrying out--
            (1) the Executive order described in subsection (a); or
            (2) any substantially similar Executive order or action.
    (c) Prohibition on Use of Federal Funds.--No Federal funds may be 
used, obligated, or expended to implement, administer, or otherwise 
give effect to--
            (1) the Executive order described in subsection (a); or
            (2) any substantially similar Executive order or action.
