<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 5341</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20260806">August 6, 2026</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S364">Mr. Murphy</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S288">Ms. Murkowski</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S363">Mr. King</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S327">Mr. Warner</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S427">Mr. Schiff</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S324">Mrs. Shaheen</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S247">Mr. Wyden</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S404">Mr. Scott of Florida</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S380">Mr. Peters</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S252">Ms. Collins</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S428">Ms. Alsobrooks</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S354">Ms. Baldwin</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S426">Mr. Kim</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S436">Ms. Slotkin</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S341">Mr. Blumenthal</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S413">Mr. Padilla</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S390">Mr. Van Hollen</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S430">Ms. Blunt Rochester</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S395">Mrs. Hyde-Smith</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSCM00">Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To require the Secretary of the department in which the Coast Guard is operating to delegate to the Commandant of the Coast Guard authority to enter into intergovernmental support agreements relating to installation-support services, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body><section id="ida80ca33c850443f4b26c6d71ef4976a8" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Strengthening Coast Guard Communities Act of 2026</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="id37d596a00f2a43b5831ca6442a8cf2d0"><enum>2.</enum><header>Coast Guard intergovernmental support agreements authority</header><subsection id="id4fd566a04d3c40888b1f03f8e43145eb"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>The Secretary of the department in which the Coast Guard is operating (referred to in this section as the <quote>Secretary</quote>) shall delegate to the Commandant of the Coast Guard (referred to in this section as the <quote>Commandant</quote>) the authority of the Secretary under section 2679 of title 10, United States Code.</text></subsection><subsection id="id194c985bf5694cce967f543fb49fb8a9"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Notification</header><text>Not later than 60 days after the date on which the Commandant exercises the authority of the Secretary under section 2679 of title 10, United States Code, in accordance with subsection (a), the Commandant shall submit to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives a written notification of such exercise of authority.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
