<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 5152</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20260728">July 28, 2026</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S396">Mrs. Blackburn</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="S416">Mrs. Britt</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S346">Mr. Lee</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S412">Mr. Tuberville</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S398">Mr. Cramer</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend title 36, United States Code, to modify the Federal charter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution to clarify its membership eligibility requirements, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H7E40C7C6FDFF4589B42AC7F3955C5A66"><section section-type="section-one" id="H6BB877CC02874CCDB1E4B3DE25F27992"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Daughters of the American Revolution Membership Integrity Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H5BDA7B2C275D43D185E7A3A3C07020B6"><enum>2.</enum><header>Membership eligibility</header><subsection id="HD52A762D342644318810380394439B8F"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/36/1531">Chapter 1531</external-xref> of title 36, United States Code, is amended by inserting after <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/36/153101">section 153101</external-xref> the following:</text><quoted-block style="USC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H76FC5DDB90AC4E858918455B328EF875"><section id="H50F520BA318E499D83D0BB2F5959F28C"> <enum>153101a.</enum> <header>Membership</header> <subsection id="HC70E69C8A8734117B1E10FB0C2484C78"> <enum>(a)</enum> <header>Membership eligibility</header> <text>Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, eligibility for membership in the corporation shall be limited to an individual who—</text>

                                <enum>(1)</enum>
 <text>is a woman; and</text> </paragraph> <paragraph id="H24FE635A051D4A229D0F31761CAACBAA"> <enum>(2)</enum> <text>otherwise satisfies the genealogical and membership qualifications established by the corporation.</text>
                            </paragraph>
                        </subsection>
                        <subsection id="H552AE9B8229B4396AD3E457F4B698999">
                            <enum>(b)</enum>
                            <header>Definitions</header>
 <text>For purposes of this section—</text> <paragraph id="H4BA04CCE94CB45C2AF148A49CA446182"> <enum>(1)</enum> <text>the term <term>woman</term> means an adult human female; and</text>
                            </paragraph>
                            <paragraph id="HCBFC9C2297184498A45A40D62E3D5759">
                                <enum>(2)</enum>
 <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the term <term>female</term> means a person who naturally has, had, will have, or would have but for a congenital anomaly or intentional or unintentional disruption, the reproductive system that produces, transports, and utilizes the large gamete (ova) for fertilization.</text>

 </section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="H4D59EBF7F0E04B9A95155452C90E6682"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Clerical amendment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The table of sections for <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/36/1531">chapter 1531</external-xref> of title 36, United States Code, is amended by inserting after the item section 153101 the following:</text><quoted-block style="USC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HF490F9D54BC54FF882867B081C4EF5A0"><toc regeneration="no-regeneration"><toc-entry level="section">153101a.
