Short title

This Act may be cited as the Wildfire Prevention and Recovery Act.

Assessments on certain projects in Arizona

(a)

In general

The Secretary of the Army may periodically conduct wildfire risk assessments to reduce risk and recovery costs associated with wildfire and post-wildlife impacts to federally authorized dams, reservoirs, and associated infrastructure under the jurisdiction of the Corps of Engineers in the State of Arizona.(b)

Considerations

In conducting a wildfire risk assessment under this section, the Secretary of the Army shall consider and identify—(1)wildfire exposure risks that may affect the ability of the Corps of Engineers to carry out authorized purposes, including navigation, flood control, hydropower, water supply, recreation, and aquatic ecosystem restoration;(2)corresponding risks to communities that could occur in the event of failure of the dam, reservoir, or associated infrastructure due to wildfire exposure;(3)the functionality of the dam, reservoir, and associated infrastructure regarding post-wildfire risk, including any known or estimated impacts associated with excess sedimentation and debris flows;(4)available studies, information, literature, or data from relevant Federal, State, or local entities; and(5)mitigation strategies to increase the capability of the Corps of Engineers to prepare for and respond to wildfire risk affecting the dam, reservoir, and associated infrastructure.
