<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4805</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20260617">June 17, 2026</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S395">Mrs. Hyde-Smith</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="S416">Mrs. Britt</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S389">Mr. Kennedy</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSFR00">Committee on Foreign Relations</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To require the United States Executive Directors at the international financial institutions to oppose certain projects involving shrimp production.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H24F626F561D84311A4A1472081812BC8"><section display-inline="no-display-inline" section-type="section-one" id="H2DA56C1666274A6C860CE7ED97B70BCF"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Save Our Shrimpers Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HB855AFBFEBDF4FC0B05878438B607EDE"><enum>2.</enum><header>Voice and vote requirement</header><subsection id="H83B4DE7829D24115A648AE76EC0A61F6"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>The Secretary of the Treasury shall instruct the United States Executive Director at each international financial institution (as defined in section 1701(c)(2) of the International Financial Institutions Act) to use the voice and vote of the United States to oppose any financial assistance by such institution for any project to support shrimp farming, shrimp processing, or the export of shrimp in a borrowing country.</text></subsection><subsection id="H4BB07F535E7441A9ADC6028E454C96EB"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Waiver authority</header><text>The Secretary of the Treasury may waive subsection (a) with respect to a project upon notifying the Congress that the waiver is in the national interest of the United States.</text></subsection><subsection id="H66AFCC7F2E3B468A97E55F6930B49FCE"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Expiration</header><text>Subsection (a) shall have no force or effect after the end of the 7-year period beginning on the date of enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
