which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend Kristen’s Act to provide for the inclusion of information related to developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease, and dementia in alerts issued through the Ashanti Alert communications network, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H103325214E544506922324F010F085C8"><section section-type="section-one" id="HFF1E9ABDD09F40EDA8F90B0957F5F6A3"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Enhanced Alerts for Missing Loved Ones with Disabilities Act of 2026</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HBE01AD57F0624237B2C169BFD9A80E74"><enum>2.</enum><header>Alerts for missing adults with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease, and dementia</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 204(b) of Kristen’s Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/34/21904">34 U.S.C. 21904(b)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="HC9CE36B448D046F693704F3D6AC848FB"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (1), by inserting after <quote>(including health care needs</quote> the following: <quote>and whether the individual has a developmental disability (as defined in section 102 of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/15002">42 U.S.C. 15002</external-xref>)), Alzheimer’s disease, or dementia</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HD6C2273C886A4C2EBAD71C51E80FF0B3"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in paragraph (3)(A), by striking <quote>suffers from a proven mental or physical disability</quote> and inserting the following: <quote>has been diagnosed with a mental disability, a physical disability, a developmental disability (as defined in section 102 of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/15002">42 U.S.C. 15002</external-xref>)), Alzheimer’s disease, or dementia</quote>.</text></paragraph></section><section id="HB33FED7E778E45B799945AD1CE940994"><enum>3.</enum><header>Training related to developmentally disabled missing persons</header><subsection id="H4445A3941D3D447A888CA4B44DF060EF"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Missing adults</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 206 of Kristen's Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/34/21906">34 U.S.C. 21906</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="HEAD83AD782044DB6BB96FC7148E2951A"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (1), by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HB31CC6A4A0094D69A3256B8B0106F1D2"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (2), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H64A7C7948C7C4237B12B2E9CDF0BDC0E"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HEA8FD0DAA54C428E90E082D549F1BE41"><paragraph id="HC1045E288B1D455FAF4514C221A24B5E"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">training and educational programs related to responding effectively to a reported missing adult with a developmental disability (as defined in section 102 of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/15002">42 U.S.C. 15002</external-xref>)).</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H0A036E9988A2435D8496F7A6715FAB55"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Missing children</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 301(b) of the PROTECT Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/34/20501">34 U.S.C. 20501(b)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="HDB5E8971D5CF4C8998526D5D1170687F"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (3), by striking <quote>and</quote> at the end;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HBEEC8C1D11874F709008BBB4CF10DB75"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (4)(B), by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>; and</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H788E17D2DD81441A90FD39973C0C0D0D"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HA135F2F1108D40F29C0A62335798C103"><paragraph id="HE11AB376569C4BF8A31A5224334ED2C9"><enum>(5)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">provide training and educational programs for use by States, territories of the United States, and Tribal governments, related to responding effectively to a reported missing child with a developmental disability (as defined in section 102 of the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/15002">42 U.S.C. 15002</external-xref>)).</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
