<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4202</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20260325">March 25, 2026</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S317">Mr. Barrasso</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S337">Mr. Coons</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S372">Mrs. Capito</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S385">Ms. Cortez Masto</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S388">Ms. Hassan</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSFI00">Committee on Finance</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to improve access to mental health services under the Medicare program.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H5EBD0EC17E7C4B5DB55B86D8137F2B1B"><section section-type="section-one" id="HCED14D81335C4EFDBBE2AD4BED12406A"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Mental Health Access and Provider Support Act of 2026</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HAA5564DCBA71484586A230A587C5D779"><enum>2.</enum><header>Improving access to mental health services under the Medicare program</header><subsection id="HC4B7C7A77DD148FF9DFD3EF66C801097"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1833(a)(1) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1395l">42 U.S.C. 1395l(a)(1)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="HD69DC5F8C2664DF792B86ED8AC81A3F0"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph (F)(ii), by striking <quote>75 percent of the amount determined for payment of a psychologist under clause (L)</quote> and inserting <quote>85 percent of the fee schedule amount provided under section 1848</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ide74c106139c54e01a38d782b7c329d93"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subparagraph (EE), by striking <quote>1847A(i)(5)(B)</quote> and inserting <quote>1847A(i)(5)(B),</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H43B73863CF9A498D9E090A7B3CEA4612"> <enum>(3)</enum> <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in subparagraph (FF), by striking <quote>75 percent of the amount determined for payment of a psychologist under subparagraph (L)</quote> and inserting <quote>85 percent of the fee schedule amount provided under section 1848</quote>.</text>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H4F9B2651074D47759990AF00BBAB75E7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by this section shall apply to items and services furnished on or after January 1, 2027.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
