A BILL
To amend the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act to require that
equitable distribution of assistance include equitable distribution to
Indian Tribes and Tribal organizations, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``American Indian and Alaska Native
Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act'', the ``AI/AN Child Abuse
Prevention and Treatment Act'', or ``AI/AN CAPTA''.
SEC. 2. CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT ACT AMENDMENTS.
(a) Geographical Distribution.--Section 108(b) of the Child Abuse
Prevention and Treatment Act (42 U.S.C. 5106d(b)) is amended, in the
first sentence, by inserting ``Indian Tribes, and Tribal
organizations,'' after ``the States,''.
(b) Allocation of Amounts.--Section 203 of the Child Abuse
Prevention and Treatment Act (42 U.S.C. 5116b) is amended--
(1) by striking ``section 210'' each place it appears and
inserting ``section 209''; and
(2) in subsection (a), by striking ``1 percent'' and all
that follows through the period at the end and inserting the
following: ``, of the amount appropriated under section 209 for
a fiscal year--
``(1) 5 percent of the amount to make allotments to Indian
Tribes and Tribal organizations; and
``(2) 1 percent of the amount to make allotments to migrant
programs.''.
