<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 4176</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20260324">March 24, 2026</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S439">Mrs. Moody</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSFI00">Committee on Finance</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend title XIX of the Social Security Act to direct State medicaid fraud control units to investigate and prosecute instances of beneficiary fraud.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H4BB3697AEFD94F41A864C6DAF2F31888"><section commented="no" section-type="section-one" id="HD1A06DA37EAB41A39E58E3BCF08A38AF"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>States Taking On Power For Redressing All Unlawful Deceits in Medicaid Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>STOP FRAUD in Medicaid Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H628CF6EECAB2429E84E4473A540F3889"><enum>2.</enum><header>Directing State medicaid fraud control units to investigate and prosecute beneficiary fraud</header><subsection id="HCAF7F843626646FC9676520B8842C1A1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 1903(q)(3) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1396b">42 U.S.C. 1396b(q)(3)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="H5139F07EF72D4F89A524C89A1E75CA12"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>, application for, or receipt of</quote> after <quote>the provision of</quote> each place it appears; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H4D5D8B16076E4D4CBD72ABAC8E0B5520"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>, and individuals applying for or receiving,</quote> after <quote>providers of</quote> each place it appears.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H17D3EBE276DF41F185156060B104CD4C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming change</header><text>Section 1902(a)(61) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1396a">42 U.S.C. 1396a(a)(61)</external-xref>) is amended by inserting <quote>, application for, and receipt of</quote> after <quote>the provision of</quote> each place it appears.</text></subsection><subsection id="H149E1429A4034ED4971848CC8099CDF1"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendments made by this section shall apply beginning on the date that is 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
