<distribution-code display="yes">II</distribution-code><calendar>Calendar No. 354</calendar><congress>119th CONGRESS</congress><session>2d Session</session><legis-num>S. 3747</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20260129">January 29, 2026</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S439">Mrs. Moody</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="S429">Mr. Banks</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S410">Ms. Lummis</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S417">Mr. Budd</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="S346">Mr. Lee</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSHR00">Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions</committee-name></action-desc></action><action stage="Reported-in-Senate"><action-date>March 11, 2026</action-date><action-desc>Reported by <sponsor name-id="S373">Mr. Cassidy</sponsor>, without amendment</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title>To amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 to recognize students who have completed secondary school education in a home school setting as high school graduates, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body style="OLC" display-enacting-clause="yes-display-enacting-clause" id="H858609B0AD114E938551287F773161CE"><section section-type="section-one" id="H0DF02429B6EB4067AA02D53F0F866554"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Home School Graduation Recognition Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section section-type="subsequent-section" id="H91DF764BF0C44DAA9C8985DF96A6D993"><enum>2.</enum><header>Recognizing Home School Graduates</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 484(d) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1091">20 U.S.C. 1091(d)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="HBDDB903774E4449382C78339F7352F97"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the heading of such subsection, by striking <quote><header-in-text level="subsection" style="OLC">Who Are Not High School Graduates</header-in-text></quote> and inserting <quote><header-in-text level="subsection" style="OLC">From Non-Traditional Settings</header-in-text></quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H3AFD8877CBE043C09035912E3D78CC80"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H491A2A20AEFD4E229564353D821C7006"><paragraph id="HCBFBABFA7A1E4266A7E1F2D086CAFFD9"><enum>(3)</enum><header>High school graduate</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For purposes of this title, a student who has completed a secondary school education in a home school setting that is treated as a home school or private school under State law shall be considered a high school graduate.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body><endorsement><action-date>March 11, 2026</action-date><action-desc>Reported without amendment</action-desc></endorsement></bill>
