Honoring the members of the Armed Forces who served in the war in Afghanistan.


IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

August 29, 2025

Mr. Van Drew submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Armed Services, and in addition to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned


RESOLUTION

Honoring the members of the Armed Forces who served in the war in Afghanistan.

Resolved, That the House of Representatives—

(1) honors the courage, service, and sacrifice of all Americans who served in the war in Afghanistan;

(2) solemnly remembers the 2,461 members of the Armed Forces who gave their lives in the conflict, including the 13 who were killed on August 26, 2021, during the final days of the withdrawal;

(3) expresses profound gratitude to all veterans of the Afghanistan war, to their families, and to the Gold Star families whose loved ones gave everything in defense of the Nation; and

(4) reaffirms the continuing need of the Federal Government to provide veterans of Afghanistan and their families the timely and comprehensive support, care, and recognition for their service.
