Whereas, on August 14, 1935, the Social Security Act was signed into law, establishing a landmark Federal program to provide economic security for elderly Americans; Whereas Social Security has contributed to the economic stability and dignity of older Americans for 9 decades; and Whereas the program remains a vital pillar of America’s social safety net and is supported by the hard work and contributions of American workers and employers: Now, therefore, be it

That the House of Representatives supports the commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 301 et seq.).
