<whereas><text>Whereas 3,600,000 Americans navigate the Nation’s roads and highways as professional truck drivers;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas the trucking industry is the backbone of the Nation’s economy, and truck drivers play an indispensable role in the Nation’s prosperity;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas the quality of life that Americans enjoy would not be possible without the steadfast dedication demonstrated by truck drivers;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas American truckers drive over 330,000,000,000 miles each year, the equivalent of nearly 1,800 round trips to the Sun, to deliver daily necessities and other consumer goods;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas truck drivers routinely traverse treacherous highway conditions and encounter extreme weather events, putting their safety at risk;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas truck drivers make many sacrifices, including time away from their families, to fulfill their important responsibilities and get shipments where they need to be on time, safely, and securely;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas truck drivers transport more than 11,000,000,000 tons of freight each year, which is about 70 percent of all the freight moved in the United States;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas more than 80 percent of United States communities rely exclusively on truck drivers to deliver their commodities, including the most remote towns and territories that are unreachable by other modes of transportation;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas truck drivers are among the first to answer the call for help in times of trouble, rapidly bringing relief supplies when disasters strike;</text></whereas> <whereas> <text>Whereas hardworking truck drivers continued to work during COVID-19, alleviating shortages and keeping store shelves stocked;</text>
    </whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas hundreds of billions of safe driving miles accumulated by truck drivers each year are a source of pride and reflect their unique skills and commitment to excellence;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas the diligence and attention to detail displayed by truck drivers is critical to protecting the safety of all roadway users;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas the partnership between truck drivers and law enforcement brings eyes and ears to every corner of the country, helping to identify and rescue countless victims of human trafficking;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas the American people owe a debt of gratitude to truck drivers for the work they do and the altruistic example they set to put food on the Nation’s tables, keep the Nation’s homes comfortable, and support the Nation’s families and jobs;</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas this year marks the 38th annual National Truck Driver Appreciation Week;</text></whereas> <whereas><text>Whereas, during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, Americans extend their most sincere thanks to professional truck drivers; and</text></whereas> 
<whereas><text>Whereas the purpose of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is to—</text> <paragraph id="HF33C3A86C905406688DBF3A9F27D5B75"><enum>(1)</enum><text>raise public awareness about the invaluable contributions of truck drivers; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HC616FAA97B024521A7E71DB2F4D9795A"><enum>(2)</enum><text>promote greater respect for and understanding of the essential work that truck drivers do: Now, therefore, be it</text></paragraph></whereas></preamble><resolution-body style="traditional" id="H464F30E229DB4435868DB3F992B4BB45"> <section display-inline="yes-display-inline" section-type="undesignated-section" id="H29E19532C8D3426C85527696618BF8B6"><text>That the House of Representatives—</text> 
<paragraph id="HCE2E4460D02943DEB7DCFAE5DB847972"><enum>(1)</enum><text>thanks the professional truck drivers of the United States; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H612E419AA0AB41248270C59759A473B1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>promotes the profession of truck driving by encouraging the public to recognize National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.</text></paragraph></section>
