IV 119th CONGRESS 2d Session H. RES. 1159 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES April 9, 2026 Mr. Green of Texas submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Ethics RESOLUTION Condemning the hateful and Islamophobic post of Representative Andy Ogles.

1.

Short title

This resolution may be cited as the Original Resolution Condemning the Hateful and Islamophobic Comments of Representative Andy Ogles.

2.

Findings

The House of Representatives finds the following: (1)At 9:40 A.M. on March 9, 2026, Representative Andy Ogles posted Muslims don’t belong in American society. Pluralism is a lie.. (2)The word Islam means submission to the will of God and peace. (3)Islam is a complete system of strong moral convictions that promotes peace, equality, and social justice. (4)Islam charges that governments should always be focused on equity, justice, and compassion. (5)Islam teaches and upholds the equality of all people, regardless of race or social status, abolishing systems that are against it, including the caste system. (6)The Quran speaks about tolerance between Muslims and non-Muslims. (7)The United States has been built from its foundation as a pluralist nation, composing itself from people of all walks of life. (8)Opposing this pluralist philosophy in response to the racial makeup of the nation changing is hateful. (9)The First Amendment in the Bill of Rights states that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. (10)Claiming that followers of Islam are incompatible with a pluralist nation with the above provision in its Constitution is Islamophobic.

The House of Representatives condemns the hateful and Islamophobic post of Representative Andy Ogles, posted on X on March 9, 2026.
