A BILL

To require the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and the Administrators of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Small Business Administration to establish a memorandum of understanding to share disaster relief data and information, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. Short title.

This Act may be cited as the “HUD Disaster Information Improvement Act”.

SEC. 2. Sharing of disaster relief data.

(a) Memorandum of understanding.—The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development shall enter into a memorandum of understanding, or other appropriate interagency agreement, with the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Administrator of the Small Business Administration to share relevant disaster relief data for the purpose of increasing efficiency and mitigating waste, fraud, and abuse across disaster recovery programs administered by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

(b) Report.—Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this section, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development shall submit to the Committee on Financial Services of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs of the Senate a report containing a description of opportunities for increased collaboration between the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the Small Business Administration to improve Department of Housing and Urban Development efficiencies in Department of Housing and Urban Development disaster recovery programs.
