<section id="H6C52ED4338B646C698343522B6587B84" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header>
 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>No Granting Riches Intended for Taxpayers Act of 2026</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>No GRIFT Act of 2026</short-title></quote>. </text></section>
<section id="H00E8EAE12F2C45A0A57DA782BF4EBB65"><enum>2.</enum><header>Compensation limitation for certain Department of Justice grant recipients</header> 
<subsection id="H63D6968F2564455CAB79C59AD4A87EB1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">For a fiscal year, any covered nonprofit is ineligible to receive a grant awarded by the Department of Justice for that fiscal year. </text></subsection> <subsection id="HC8073DFD35EB4CFB8BE8FB45526AF03C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Certification</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">A nonprofit seeking a grant awarded by the Department of Justice shall submit to the Attorney General, along with the application for such grant, a certification that the nonprofit is not ineligible to receive a grant under subsection (a). </text></subsection> 
<subsection id="HDB5A06DA6FEC4CE6902FB6959F1CD081"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section:</text> <paragraph id="H61750DD2041B4D0EAE32FF2A71C831E2"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The term <term>covered nonprofit</term> means, for a fiscal year, a nonprofit—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H675ABB285CFD4BEABDEF0957D480102D"><enum>(A)</enum><text>for which more than 50 percent of its revenue was comprised of one or more grants awarded by the Department of Justice for taxable year that most recently concluded prior to the first day of that fiscal year; and</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H1CE4966E41EA460398E3BC3BBBBB5747"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">that, for the taxable year described in subparagraph (A), compensated an officer or employee in an amount that exceeded the annual salary authorized to be paid to the Attorney General.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H8B8C3681822C4502867E1014C7D00CD8"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>nonprofit</term> means an organization that is exempt from taxation under <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/501">section 501(c)(3)</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. </text></paragraph></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
