<section id="H83F4AC6E70BE42459088502D4C73ACAB" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header>
 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>D.C. Taxing Authority Review Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="HF56B859CC668467EB9AF5223763F57C7"><enum>2.</enum><header>Congressional resolution of approval</header> 
<subsection id="H111857D49BF4476682BAB0F7CA94F66A"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 602(c) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act (sec. 1–206.02(c), D.C. Official Code) is amended—</text> <paragraph id="HE4240E5D19CB4A7DB4B4815A44DBFF57"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating paragraph (3) as paragraph (4); and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H5E4CD455DD7C40EA86F2017BF4CB10A6"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after paragraph (2), the following:</text> <quoted-block style="OLC" id="H65080FE6A43B4C5BA6122D33150C6461" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <paragraph id="HFA5F1CD584BF48118294302CA4FD0556"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In the case of any such Act transmitted by the Chairman with respect to any Act codified in title 47 of the District of Columbia Code or which would impose or increase a tax or fee, such Act shall not take effect at the end of the 60-day period beginning on the day such Act is transmitted by the Chairman to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate unless, during such 60-day period, there has been enacted into law a joint resolution approving such Act. In any case in which any such joint resolution approving such Act has, within such 60-day period, passed both Houses of Congress and has been transmitted to the President, such resolution, upon becoming law subsequent to the expiration of such 60-day period shall be deemed to have approved such Act, as of the date such resolution becomes law. The provisions of section 604, relating to expedited procedure for consideration of joint resolutions, shall apply to a joint resolution approving such Act as specified in this subparagraph.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection>
<subsection id="H3860CE34290949DA863F4ACF2D38317A"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Reduction in debate time</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 604(h) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act (sec. 1–206.04(h), D.C. Official Code) is amended—</text> <paragraph id="H879CDD1777FA4C368213DE33C53E680F"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>the resolution</quote> and inserting <quote>such a resolution, other than such a resolution considered under section 602(c)(3),</quote>; and</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H486D09CDEDA9453AA269A65A11C6114E"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting <quote>Debate on such a resolution considered under section 602(c)(3) shall be limited to not more than one hour, which shall be divided equally between those favoring and those opposing the resolution.</quote> after the first sentence.</text> </paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="H897C6F7D371349B69048590B69439BD2"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Conforming amendment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 602(c)(1) of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act (sec. 1–206.02(c)(1), D.C. Official Code) is amended by striking <quote>Except as provided in paragraph (2)</quote> and inserting <quote>Except as provided in paragraphs (2) and (3)</quote>.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="HF38E0A1FA723405E938B4DAE5CE49965"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Applicability</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">This Act, and the amendments made by this Act, shall apply with respect to Acts transmitted to Congress as required by section 602(c) the District of Columbia Home Rule Act after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
