<section id="H14209B2D95404D62A4E671812CED7E13" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header>
 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>AI Workforce Impact Study Act of 2026</short-title></quote>.</text></section> 
<section id="HCF999A619AF34DA78AA2B6A0A5E26CA5" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>GAO study on the impacts of artificial intelligence on the workforce</header> 
<subsection id="H307B9713098D4D78B0BECA6379C10106"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Contents of study</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General of the United States shall conduct a study and submit to Congress a report, with respect to the period beginning on November 22, 2022, and ending on the date of enactment of this Act, on—</text> <paragraph id="H18FF6B40F4044EEEAE2BE95A85EBECE7"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the impacts of artificial intelligence on the workforce in the United States, including—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HDD40C251913C41F590BCF183E0F83A92" commented="no"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the estimated number and percentage of individuals who have lost their jobs as a result of artificial intelligence, disaggregated in accordance with subsection (b);</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="HFEB4C139789148C9AD61C111BD3A9071"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the estimated number and percentage of individuals who have been hired in jobs created as a result of artificial intelligence, disaggregated in accordance with subsection (b); and</text> </subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H902D3B4A2CDA4D85992095D004E647A6"><enum>(C)</enum><text>the ways in which jobs have been substantially altered, including the ways in which artificial intelligence is being used to monitor and replace workers; and</text></subparagraph> </paragraph> <paragraph id="HEB5B7B0A8D6041BDA090683E55345F24" commented="no"> <enum>(2)</enum> <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the limitations of the data collected and reported by, and the data collection methods of, the Federal Government in measuring the impacts of artificial intelligence on the workforce in the United States.</text>
        </paragraph> </subsection> 
<subsection id="H6B61FD595A4B4ECA855B115828B3C718"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Data disaggregation</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The data collected in subparagraphs (A) and (B) of subsection (a)(1) shall be disaggregated—</text> <paragraph id="H92A3336599894624B5CDC9D0E849F41E"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">with respect to the jobs lost or jobs created—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H391CA42A2684498D98C082681AB88980"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by geographic area; and</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H142EBA474A3B4A1CBC5558AD7DF93325"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by industry and occupation; and</text></subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HC1BDAEEF44E643BB8D65C42B5E1699D8"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by demographic characteristics (including sex and race) of the individuals described in such subparagraphs.</text></paragraph> </subsection> <subsection id="H543A0EFDB7E34BD9A2DF5FD875D4D0A8"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Artificial intelligence defined</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>artificial intelligence</quote> has the meaning given such term in section 5002 of the National Artificial Intelligence Initiative Act of 2020 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/9401">15 U.S.C. 9401</external-xref>).</text></subsection></section>
