<section id="H9E3457D7378941B78100A0F263CACAFD" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Advisory Committee on the Records of Congress Sunset Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H11F37006CC884ADDABFDC41044DF68F2"><enum>2.</enum><header>Management and preservation of the records of Congress</header> <subsection id="H81BBA41C400847C3A6C966362928F78F"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Sunset of Advisory Committee on the Records of Congress</header><text>Effective on the date that is 60 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, title 44 of the United States Code is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H18D57FE488D648B2A5CF168084D1AF2B"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking chapter 27;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HD6B6FA526E694691AE5B1B545F7F532B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking the table of sections relating to chapter 27; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H5588B3813D4145B5993788B92F02DF59"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in the table of chapters, by striking the item relating to chapter 27.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="HEEA251C78A944AB7B9DCE0576241E70C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Report</header><text>Not later than February 1 of the year beginning after the date of enactment of this Act, and annually thereafter, the Director shall submit a report on the management and preservation of the records of Congress during the previous year to—</text> 
<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HF25C22077FE247EE9AD15C4A59F92C85"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Archivist;</text></paragraph> <paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H9449A1AADED2463AA26644BF8C0B5410"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Secretary;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H466A57EF487C4002999BDC940A331E29"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the Clerk;</text></paragraph> <paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H5383D4C97FBC41AEA18BF034A764361D"><enum>(4)</enum><text>the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and the Committee on Rules and Administration of the Senate; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HB0BBA4C29413474D97283B6A14FB8429"><enum>(5)</enum><text>the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Committee on House Administration of the House of Representatives.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="HE93A0EC2A41740F0B5F111C5280246D1"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Review</header><text>The Archivist, the Secretary, and the Clerk shall meet to review the management and preservation of the records of Congress—</text> 
<paragraph id="H4EC6A802E3294D2F801BDFD03E0EC4C8"><enum>(1)</enum><text>not later than 60 days after the date on which the Director submits a report under subsection (b); and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H825D03AF29F14EC39BC28A9CEF6051F1" commented="no"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">not later than 180 days after the date on which an individual begins to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the Archivist, Secretary, or Clerk.</text></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H0483868B6527417F8D5518C688BC4384"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text> <paragraph id="H7BB4D5F38D1A4B90AF81A77C794A587A"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Archivist</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>Archivist</term> means the Archivist of the United States, or any successor thereto.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HCA2137690F4F4B8DAA1BD73BEDAAAA91"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Clerk</header><text>The term <term>Clerk</term> means the Clerk of the House of Representatives.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H3A933A19241F433AB482FEAF65D3C6C1"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Director</header><text>The term <term>Director</term> means the Director of the Center for Legislative Archives of the National Archives, or any successor thereto.</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H750AE3282C07418E8042ACCF3FED59A9"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>The term <term>Secretary</term> means the Secretary of the Senate.</text></paragraph></subsection> </section> </legis-body></bill>
