<section id="H422177CF2686443E8F0F0551BFA49B13" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Travel Assistance for Veterans in Medical Deserts Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HBC589D8ECD2345129227EE4136EC82DC" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Expansion of eligibility of veterans with service-connected disabilities who reside in certain territories or the Freely Associated States for payments or allowances for beneficiary travel</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 111(b) of title 38, United States Code, is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H177036FAA9A54F8BA888C04087F9D41F"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (1)(B)—</text> <subparagraph id="H893CB6A605894109ACD167D32B4D5FC8"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by striking <quote>rated at 30 percent or more.</quote> and inserting an em dash; and</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H674381077179490FB5645714AD853498"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new clauses:</text> <quoted-block style="USC" id="HC0B8E73F485D4D5BA0E574C253A3F7A8" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <clause id="H1B2ABA3BEF9C47999832B51185CD5936" indent="up1"><enum>(i)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">rated at 30 percent or more; or</text></clause> 
<clause id="H0E7A56FEDB0E49C39B3A63E7E971AC7E" indent="up1"><enum>(ii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">without regard to rating in the case of a veteran who resides in a covered jurisdiction in which no medical facility of the Department is located.</text></clause><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subparagraph></paragraph> <paragraph id="H066741CEAC94431CB5FBCF9F77A6AD3E"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text>

<paragraph id="HE8410D4AD3D2436AB68EBC8BCE0D5A19" indent="up1"><enum>(5)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this subsection:</text> <subparagraph id="H2405AF7133FD4F518BBBB16D10615CDE"><enum>(A)</enum><text>The term <quote>covered jurisdiction</quote> means a territory or the Freely Associated States.</text> </subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H7D51234A4613415C9D4B8DB726BDB9B9"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>Freely Associated States</quote> has the meaning given such term in subsection (h).</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H559F6767B34741F1872C065FDEAC1F5D"><enum>(C)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>territory</quote> has the meaning given such term in section 5 of the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/114/187">Public Law 114–187</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/48/2104">48 U.S.C. 2104</external-xref>).</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </paragraph></section>
