    <section id="S1" section-type="section-one">
      <enum>1.</enum>
      <header>Short title</header>
 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Restore Military Families’ Voices Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section> <section id="id02e98506a7864747948e5b84de4554b8"> <enum>2.</enum> <header>Treatment of nondisclosure agreements with respect to privatized military housing</header> <text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2890(f) of title 10, United States Code, is amended—</text>
      <paragraph id="id90eb989705984948aee51c0e7bd1cee8">
        <enum>(1)</enum>
 <text>in paragraph (1), in the first sentence—</text> <subparagraph id="id1136CB33FB434E8E886CEC272D9CE7B8"> <enum>(A)</enum> <text>by striking <quote>A tenant or prospective tenant of a housing unit may not be required to sign</quote> and inserting <quote>A landlord may not request that a tenant, former tenant, or prospective tenant of a housing unit sign</quote>; and</text>
        </subparagraph>
        <subparagraph id="id8a20474ff4954942b4920cfd7456c0ff">
          <enum>(B)</enum>
 <text>by inserting <quote>or in connection with the provision of services related to the housing unit</quote> before the period; and</text> </subparagraph> </paragraph> <paragraph id="idbad627a1d0f24ce98ecf91a5adee3b0f" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <enum>(2)</enum> <text>by striking paragraphs (2) and (3) and inserting the following:</text>

          <paragraph id="id0018c67111fd47a8884e3f3ffc173929" indent="up1">
            <enum>(2)</enum>
 <text>The prohibition under paragraph (1) shall apply to all housing units, including accompanied family housing and military unaccompanied housing.</text> </paragraph> <paragraph indent="up1" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id116d70abb15c4956852f14b06928c51c"> <enum>(3)</enum> <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this subsection, the term <term>tenant</term> includes any party (other than a landlord) to a lease for a housing unit.</text>
          </paragraph>

    </section>
    <section id="id9c1e72b97fd44e8ebc832e4d8ed62888">
      <enum>3.</enum>
      <header>Expansion of protection from retaliation against tenants of privatized military housing units</header>
 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2890 of title 10, United States Code, is amended—</text> <paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="iddbea1a64b0114afd9168c0e5abeb2a5b"> <enum>(1)</enum> <text>in subsection (b)(7), in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by striking <quote>and housing management office</quote> and inserting <quote>the housing management office, the Chief Housing Officer of the Department of Defense, an inspector general, and members of Congress</quote>; and</text>
      </paragraph>
      <paragraph id="id8f85c1fad9064a1785a3d6efaf85d5c6">
        <enum>(2)</enum>
 <text>in subsection (e)—</text> <subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id1e543de10df34fb09a6bdf281b1f5743"> <enum>(A)</enum> <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">paragraph (1)—</text>
          <clause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ide869201cb76040ca939fd2d24f729e9c">
            <enum>(i)</enum>
 <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by inserting <quote>(when made aware of such reports)</quote> after <quote>reprisal</quote>; and</text> </clause> <clause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idabbe9751812647debf8a02bfafabc57a"> <enum>(ii)</enum> <text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by striking <quote>relating to a housing unit.</quote> and inserting “relating to a housing unit, including to any of the following:</text>
            <quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idd9a91390e6cd4c0b9b585510ffca1ea0">
              <subparagraph id="id669185e36e7f492589a72592ed971535" indent="up1">
                <enum>(A)</enum>
 <text>The landlord.</text> </subparagraph> <subparagraph id="idc5a62dcfec0e40e5970b67b2b3f963bb" indent="up1"> <enum>(B)</enum> <text>The chain of command.</text>
              </subparagraph>
              <subparagraph id="id8216e6592030476eaf31cde9cd32f684" indent="up1">
                <enum>(C)</enum>
 <text>The applicable housing management office.</text> </subparagraph> <subparagraph id="idee466d56c8a14f75a132f3895dc94d73" indent="up1"> <enum>(D)</enum> <text>The Chief Housing Officer of the Department of Defense. </text>
              </subparagraph>
              <subparagraph id="id39de837050ba4b568b55819a0bbed445" indent="up1">
                <enum>(E)</enum>
 <text>An inspector general.</text> </subparagraph> <subparagraph id="id123207c2d0f84fd487fe0579d7ced2ed" indent="up1"> <enum>(F)</enum> <text>A Member of Congress.</text>
              </subparagraph>

            </quoted-block>
          </clause>
        </subparagraph>
        <subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id74ca9443480a496f9cd8baccd1daffc9">
          <enum>(B)</enum>
 <text>by redesignating paragraph (2) as paragraph (3);</text> </subparagraph> <subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="ida01163a79d464eeeafa903d1e1de8626"> <enum>(C)</enum> <text>by inserting after paragraph (1) the following new paragraph (2):</text>
          <quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idd6921033ff594d929841492c8931882a">
            <paragraph commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id3afa0b546a1a4f468839fff5f539589b" indent="up1">
              <enum>(2)</enum>
 <text>Not later than 10 business days after receiving a report of reprisal under paragraph (1), the Inspector General shall provide notification of such report to the Secretary of the military department concerned and to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives.</text> </paragraph> <after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block> </quoted-block> </subparagraph> <subparagraph id="id4c240b727b6f48f68e287ba2f33330ec"> <enum>(D)</enum> <text>in paragraph (3), as so redesignated—</text>
          <clause id="id0213a08c5bd8402c9e536558c9ce81b3">
            <enum>(i)</enum>
 <text>by redesignating subparagraphs (A) and (B) as subparagraphs (B) and (C), respectively;</text> </clause> <clause id="idf8439cf8be824b7e8b18033cc8a23725"> <enum>(ii)</enum> <text>by inserting before subparagraph (B), as so redesignated, the following new subparagraph (A):</text>

              <subparagraph id="id1b034c6bbfdc40f39785a7bed87f1160" indent="up1">
                <enum>(A)</enum>
 <text>provide notification of that determination to the Secretary of the military department concerned;</text> </subparagraph> <after-quoted-block>;</after-quoted-block> </quoted-block> </clause> <clause commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idf6aa8addccf24a2abb6f89a185ad89ae"> <enum>(iii)</enum> <text>in subparagraph (B), as so redesignated, by inserting <quote>of that determination</quote> after <quote>initial notice</quote>; and</text>
          </clause>
          <clause id="idf93f3c15dba849c4a28d4f25b74795fd">
            <enum>(iv)</enum>
 <text>in subparagraph (C), as so redesignated, by striking <quote>the Inspector General has taken final action</quote> and inserting <quote>the Secretary of the military department concerned has notified the Inspector General that the Secretary has taken final action</quote>.</text> </clause> </subparagraph> </paragraph> </section> </legis-body></bill>
