<section id="HC2C49E2F33FD4CF8B1C354F396A5A4EA" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Putting Patients First by Strengthening Provider Accountability in FECA Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H3EEF7FFC842C4A979F515025A1B7C523"><enum>2.</enum><header>Fraud convictions</header> <subsection id="H5DDC2A310C6940058B54AB7EA3227916"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 8103 of title 5, United States Code, is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="H1859ACDA3F1F49038AD54B0CAA78E3C4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (a), by striking <quote>These expenses</quote> and inserting <quote>Subject to subsection (c), these expenses</quote>;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H4E91C3D20E9C48E2BE44B987212C2B36"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subsection (b), by striking <quote>The Secretary, under</quote> and inserting <quote>Subject to subsection (c), the Secretary, under</quote>; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H2370EB847A7D42238123836E822C1D04"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text> <quoted-block style="USC" id="H7877625E7F6D4139A3DCBFBF3BAA6A13" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <subsection id="H1F0F7DE0108842FBB0F18B74EF51B032"><enum>(c)</enum> <paragraph id="H54BF5C459EB8404CA7E70BF0286DBF85" display-inline="yes-display-inline"><enum>(1)</enum><text>The Secretary of Labor may suspend payments to a provider of services, appliances, or supplies furnished pursuant to subsection (a), or vouchers or certifications described in subsection (b) for the expenses incurred by the employing agency with respect to such a provider, if the provider has been convicted of fraud with respect to—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HD6F0361F7EC04D0FA3257ACB832660EC" indent="up1"><enum>(A)</enum><text>this subchapter; </text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="H017D1CDC7A3343FCA451345382596A20" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>any Federal health care benefit program (as defined in section 24 of title 18, United States Code); or</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H951DEE09F792449CB3E3F95CF26BEBAC" indent="up1"><enum>(C)</enum><text>any State program for which payments are made to providers for services, appliances, or supplies similar to such services, appliances, or supplies provided pursuant to this subchapter.</text> </subparagraph></paragraph> <paragraph id="H146A089506AD4D08B1DCF61F141F5623" indent="up1" commented="no"><enum>(2)</enum><text>The Secretary shall promulgate regulations to carry out this subsection.</text></paragraph> </subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H6F82714906664B0C8B5B51096A9060CA"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by this Act shall apply to payments made to a provider of services, appliances, or supplies on or after the date that is 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section> </legis-body></bill>
