<section id="H0E9BBE794A53451BB519C939B87C82C1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Civics and History Advancement to Restore Learning, Integrity, and Education Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>CHARLIE Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H62C853A453F2463B9965ACC53ABEBDF4"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibiting American history and civics funds for radical indoctrination</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 2231 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/6661">20 U.S.C. 6661</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>

<subsection id="H545C198E40E540BFA1DF290288800693"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Prohibitions</header> 
<paragraph id="HB5D4E27BCD1540D386B4C40F123C18E0"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Of the amount made available to carry out this subpart, no funds may be used for discriminatory equity ideology or gender ideology.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HFB276FDD27AF4A618E20F97E840B46C0"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Priority</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In awarding grants under this subpart, the Secretary may not give priority to an eligible entity on the basis of race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or immigration status, including with respect to—</text> 
<subparagraph id="HCCA48E1811974383BB1B11F60A340275"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the identity or purpose of the eligible entity;</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="HC2296F85D170418A84C5785E8BC79157"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the identity of the individuals who control, are employed by, or are served by the eligible entity; or</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H40622FE693014529AD14690D85174797"><enum>(C)</enum><text>the proposed activities to be carried out under such a grant.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="HF50F725344EA4CC0A5D478C3781D96FD"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text> 
<paragraph id="HDCD4CDCA6154456FA35547C1A7D9C098"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Discriminatory equity ideology</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>discriminatory equity ideology</term> has the meaning given the term in section 2 of Executive Order 14190 (90 Fed. Reg. 8853; relating to ending radical indoctrination in K–12 schooling).</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HD286EDFAAA834477AA1C165D4FF494E7"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Gender ideology</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>gender ideology</term> has the meaning given the term in section 2 of Executive Order 14168 (90 Fed. Reg. 8615; relating to defending women from gender ideology extremism and restoring biological truth to the Federal Government).</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block> </section>
