<section id="H17B82AAF2C894560A9DF4115C1344E20" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Build the Ballroom Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="HFA52325F69FE4637B368DFF0F25781F1" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Findings; sense of Congress</header> <subsection id="HF666A1D85370434F93FBE046AA8D553E"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Findings</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Congress finds the following:</text> 
<paragraph id="HFE675D8CA96F4357BF6038C7007901A5"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Under the current structure, the White House is unable to host formal events or state dinners for over 200 people because of space constraints.</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H1D3712F3466E44EBA0B1AC47AA843D01"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Larger formal events must be held off campus, which risks the security of the president.</text></paragraph>

          <enum>(3)</enum>
 <text>On March 30, 1981, John Hinckley Jr. shot President Ronald Reagan while he was leaving an event at the Washington Hilton.</text>
        </paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HB635732878ED4A90AADDB07EE5969DA3"><enum>(4)</enum><text>On April 25th, 2026, Cole Tomas Allen attempted to assassinate the President and his guests during White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.</text></paragraph></subsection> <subsection id="H13605786E4614DAB9652E414BBF46E28"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Sense of Congress</header><text>It is the sense of Congress that it is now time to build a ballroom located on the grounds of the White House which takes modern security concerns into account and will be able to serve the Office of the President far into the future.</text></subsection></section> 
<section id="H61AE962C78694E3FBEEDDDE0FA738090"><enum>3.</enum><header>Construction of ballroom on White House grounds</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the President may construct a ballroom on the grounds of the White House that—</text> <paragraph id="H2DCA5EB6CE534F7BBA030ECE571BC75E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>is planned taking into account the needs of the President and the Executive Office of the President;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="HAC1048FF7BB84641A7652ADF36B7A764"><enum>(2)</enum><text>is approved solely by the President;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H583CC4EB315941769169F69FCA66FA48"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">includes heating, electricity, and furniture;</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H8940A87983B64E75BC2F127CFC1FAE52"><enum>(4)</enum><text>includes removal of any applicable existing structures; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H6B1755F6A8344E66A774AF32927039FF"><enum>(5)</enum><text>is constructed as a permanent structure.</text> </paragraph></section>
