<section id="H5D01A5B361CB47A0A77753FD997FCC1F" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Truth in National Parks Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H4C0731009C68460BB95F0C245359D5F6"><enum>2.</enum><header>National Park Service interpretive programs</header> <subsection id="HC9D5C60E1EFD4E30BE3F30AC33A0F066"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Interpretation and education evaluation and quality improvement</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 100803 of title 54, United States Code, is amended—</text> 
<paragraph id="HB077B8AFB05843E9A75622F76990FCC2"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (3), by striking <quote>; and</quote> and inserting a semicolon;</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="H3B31A8F09CC2401F954BB645702E429E"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (4), by striking <quote>analysis.</quote> and inserting <quote>analysis; and</quote>; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H7514BC50B9E54843A832327ACB6522C8"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following:</text> <quoted-block style="USC" id="H34162410A904453F98DFDDF6D8B72939" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <paragraph id="H55BBE750157344A9A48113B462B7EE59"><enum>(5)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">are historically and culturally accurate.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection> 
<subsection id="H4AC1ED09A1204D9A85ABACC221905DE6"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Editing and removing information</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/54/1008">Chapter 1008</external-xref> of title 54, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following:</text> <quoted-block style="USC" id="HD8DD7299C8BC46C390332C59929A101E" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <section id="H7A7B14DDAEF2441D8C0B09B8981C2464"><enum>100805.</enum><header>Removal or editing of interpretive or educational materials</header> <subsection id="H64FFD63C59914F85A28002D88E8A3D0A"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Availability of materials</header> <paragraph id="H9DDFA38DFB0F43A58A2A7D86977FAEF6"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Except as provided in paragraph (2), in carrying out this chapter, the Secretary shall not remove, obscure, edit, or otherwise alter interpretive or educational materials at a System unit if such interpretive or educational materials are—</text> 
<subparagraph id="H192410190D8D4BF4A8CA77D5C9BC68A8"><enum>(A)</enum><text>historically and culturally accurate; and</text></subparagraph> <subparagraph id="HD569E115E3BB409A9F1B196CEA4C2AAF"><enum>(B)</enum><text>consistent with the purposes and foundational documents of the System unit.</text></subparagraph></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H9E2EF1C1B56F4A7DA162CDACBBA19BE9"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Exception</header><text>The Secretary may take such steps as are necessary (including removing, obscuring, editing, or altering interpretive or educational materials) to—</text> <subparagraph id="H056ED523B52E48DC8E453467AF5C78F4"><enum>(A)</enum><text>update historically and culturally accurate information on public display at a System unit; or</text></subparagraph> 
<subparagraph id="H38E293885E2A40E58A167D730CDAADF1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>accommodate new historically and culturally accurate public exhibits and displays at a System unit.</text> </subparagraph></paragraph> </subsection> <subsection id="H7E675D512C5E403D8ABAC76488F904D6"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Consultation</header><text>In updating information or accommodating new public exhibits and displays under subsection (a)(2), the Secretary shall consult with relevant constituencies, including Indian Tribes when appropriate, to determine if removing, obscuring, editing, or otherwise altering interpretive or educational materials is appropriate.</text></subsection> 
<subsection id="H9339138BED3C48F3BF286695668A5969"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Interpretive or educational materials defined</header><text>In this section, the term <term>interpretive or educational materials</term> means interpretation and education program materials on public display at a System unit, including—</text> <paragraph id="H211261B909834BD69CEC665D4A857BC1"><enum>(1)</enum><text>signs, plaques, flags, and other exhibits; and</text></paragraph> 
<paragraph id="H75DB2C60AC794E0DBF23375DFD3091A0"><enum>(2)</enum><text>online materials related to such System unit.</text> </paragraph></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> <subsection id="H022260D3DE9141EE8951AE522B1D1A8F"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Conforming amendment</header><text>The table of contents for <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/54/1008">chapter 1008</external-xref> of title 54, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>

<toc-entry level="section">100805. Removal or editing of interpretive and educational materials.</toc-entry></toc><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection> 
<subsection id="HE0E4F81B16594AAAAF34BB0DAFE4F6CE"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Replacement of removed materials</header><text>Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of the Interior shall replace or restore, as applicable, at each unit of the National Park System, any historically and culturally accurate interpretive or educational materials removed, obscured, edited, or otherwise altered during the period beginning on January 20, 2025, and ending on the date of the enactment is this Act.</text></subsection></section> <section id="H8B54FFFC90044B7D99ABE50835F19655"><enum>3.</enum><header>Co-stewardship agreement report</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General shall submit to the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives and the Committees on Indian Affairs and Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate a report on the status of co-stewardship agreements between Indigenous communities (including Indian Tribes and Native Hawaiian Organizations) and Federal agencies, including recommendations on how to improve co-stewardship agreement processes to meet Federal trust obligations with respect to such Indigenous communities.</text> </section>
