R. 8535</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20260427">April 27, 2026</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="W000831">Mr. Walkinshaw</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="M001157">Mr. McCaul</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001110">Mr. Correa</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="G000591">Mr. Guest</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HHM00">Committee on Homeland Security</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To direct the Secretary of Homeland Security to develop performance metrics relating to the detection, deterrence, and seizure of fentanyl.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HF74BC45AF07D46A38F0FAAA837E26C68" style="OLC"><section id="H461EA996FCF04E268CE6A6739CF53438" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Measuring Illicit Fentanyl Trafficking Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H0F77901D5BC7445C9017DB838135AA6D"><enum>2.</enum><header>Combatting illicit fentanyl</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall—</text><paragraph id="HCAA454C3ED094D59A6209F411427B4D7"><enum>(1)</enum><text>ensure that each component of the Department of Homeland Security engaged in the detection, deterrence, and seizure of fentanyl—</text><subparagraph id="H9F0FC3F155124A2288D749CD4468EDF9"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">collaborate and share relevant information and data relating to the detection, deterrence, and seizure of fentanyl with other components of the Department of Homeland Security engaged in such detection, deterrence, and seizure; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HE63F2E9C7940444AA238B4A33A66011D"><enum>(B)</enum><text>identify any barriers to sharing relevant information and data pursuant to paragraph (1); and</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H354823342728473F943A6D00A7D4B1A3"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">establish performance metrics relating to the detection, deterrence, and seizure of fentanyl for the Department of Homeland Security and each component of such Department.</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
