    To amend title 28, United States Code, to adjust the amount in 
  controversy requirement for diversity cases, and for other purposes.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the 
United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

    This Act may be cited as the ``Federal Diversity Jurisdiction 
Modernization Act of 2026''.

SEC. 2. AMENDMENT TO AMOUNT IN CONTROVERSY REQUIREMENT.

    (a) Amendment to Title 28, United States Code.--Section 1332(a) of 
title 28, United States Code, is amended by striking ``$75,000'' and 
inserting ``$500,000''.
    (b) Applicability.--The amendment made by this section shall apply 
to any civil action commenced on or after the date of enactment of this 
Act.
